Rehab to Rehearsal: Bridging the Gap from Therapy to Class in the Recreational and Pre-Professional Dancer

A physical therapy injury prevention lecture for dancers and educators providing information on the role physical therapy plays in promoting longevity in one’s dance career and reducing risk of injury in the performing arts population. This lecture discusses the supporting role of physical therapists in the dance community, provides resources to promote health and wellness among dancers, discusses common dance injuries, and provides dancers with tools including dance specific exercises to incorporate into their lives. This presentation defines tools for performing artists to advocate for their health, recovery, and self-growth. It summarizes rehab considerations and common barriers in the pre-professional and recreational dance world. Bridging the Gap from Therapy to Class will allow dancers, medical providers, and dance educators to collaborate and optimize the health and well-being of the adolescent artist to allow for smooth transition from clinic to stage. The workshop is $20.
