OUR FIRST ANNUAL DANCE WORKSHOP IN FLORENCE, ITALY

Florence, like Columbus, is a home for us. We each spent around a decade dancing professionally—regularly changing cities and regularly changing homes. So for us home is complicated and rich. As queer people, we both grew up feeling like outsiders in our cities of origin and found homes in art making, in connecting with other artists, in queer communities and eventually in each other. Moving to Columbus 6 years ago has been a process of reclaiming, of finding home through the community that emerged from Flux Flow and of truly loving the queerness in ourselves. “Searching for Home” in Florence, Fili’s city of origin, and relating it back to Columbus, Russell’s city of origin, with the community that has made us feel more at home and supported than ever before feels powerful.
