Learn about the techniques and methods used by the artist currently on display at Flux + Flow Gallery, Mary Jane Ward. As a demonstration, she will be sketching a dancer. Attendees will be welcome to observe and ask questions about her process as she draws live. After the demonstration, there will be a drawing workshop where participants will have the chance to draw a dancer with the aid and instruction of Mary Jane in the Flux + Flow studios.

Mary Jane Ward was born in Eugene, Oregon. She had a nine year career as a professional dancer in companies, one of which was the Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, where she met Russell Lesley (co-director of Flux + Flow). Mary Jane teaches portrait and plein air classes at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center and is a member of the Ohio Plein Air Society, She prefers to draw and paint from life and finds inspiration in the presence of her subjects. Whether sitting in a studio with a model, or fully immersing herself in a landscape, the hours spent are meditative and transformative.
