Dance + MovemenT FOR ALL

EXPLORE YOUR POSSIBILITIES

When we moved to Columbus to start a dance space, we wanted to create a place for adults to explore or rediscover dance without the pressures and unhealthy attitudes often imbued in dance culture. We had been working in the dance field, specifically in ballet companies and European contemporary dance companies, for over ten years. Starting as children, the priorities and practices of the industry were something we didn’t question. As we matured in the field, we became increasingly aware of the disconnect between our personal values and the values of the institutions we worked for. Concert dance, and the educational tradition attached to it, promotes perfectionism over mental health, excludes bodies that don’t fit the ideals of European beauty standards and reinforces strict gender norms. It is incredible how many people come into our space believing they aren’t or could never be dancers. We passionately believe that dance is for everyone and that everyone is a dancer. Being inclusive is always our intent but we recognize that we are imperfect and will make mistakes along the way. We are open to conversation and committed to this work.

We offer a variety of movement classes, covering a wide range of dance and movement forms, including regularly scheduled yoga classes. There is something for everyone, from absolute beginners to dance professionals and everyone in between. Our focus is “drop-in” adult classes in a nonjudgmental, “come as you are” space. We also offer a number of classes for children and family. Take a look at our class descriptions and feel free to contact us with any questions.
